A: I would agree that sex bolts would be a very good option to secure your handles to your A pilar. However these types of fasteners are intended for doors with a specific thickness of 1-3/4" and since the dimension of your tube is shy of that minimum size I would recommend that you review the “Thru Bolt & Grommet Nut” as seen here:

as the male portion can be cut down to accommodate a variety of different material thicknesses.

Additionally the material is generally kept in stock in aluminum and dark bronze so expect to have to finish paint the material to match your structure.
