Q: Looking for a lever handset to work with Monarch 19R
A: Sure thing. What function do you need? Passage or keyed and if keyed do you want a storeroom or classroom function?
Q: does the 19r panic comes wired ready to install
A: "Wired" - please explain to word wired in this context?
Q: Can the Monarch 19R, lever trim, be keyed to Schlage FSIC?
A: The Falcon 914-KIL-IC as seen on page 12 here:

is a small format interchangeable core system, better known as Best, Arrow, Falcon.

Going to the Von Duprin line would obviously allow you an interchangeable core system compatible with the Schlage full-size cars or perhaps you can consider another way to add exterior trim to your Falcon 19 series exit device.

If you need handicap compliance perhaps you can add a barrier-free pull handle to the door with a Schlage full size interchangeable core Rim cylinder.

Q: Mr. Howard here are three pictures of our door lock:

Having a problem not securing. When door locked can pull open from outside. Tried a shim but was only a temporary fix. Later took shim out because same thing happened. We are in southern Alabama where door swelling can be a factor. Please help. My cell phone is [removed] Thanks Richard U.

A: Based on the first photograph it appears as if the strike plate is full too far away from the face of the door when the door is closed and that the distance between the latch bolt and the strike plate location is also too great.

Having said that I would certainly add the shim back or maybe even add an additional shim and I would also move the strike plate closer to the face of the door.

It simply looks like the latch bolt is not fully engaging the strike plate which would explain the lack of secure engagement of the hardware preventing the door from being secured and allowing it to be pulled open.

If you look at the second image for your showing the strike plate only on the jamb, it looks like you've got it pushed over as far as the slotted holes in the strike will allow the strike to go but quite frankly what I'm seeing there is that you might need to push it out even a little bit further although it's hard to tell from this perspective.

It is simply a failure of proper orientation of the exit device where it is installed on the door and the exact positioning of the strike plate.

You need to make the two of those items fully engage each other to give you an absolute secure opening.

Q: What is the part number for the 19 centercase cover?
A: There are two devices that you may need the center case cover. One is the rim device which is the

  • 19-R part# 650384
  • as seen here:

    The other is the

  • Q: How can I cover a 86 or 161 prepped door with a 19-R?
A: The 4170 cover plate can be used to cover the 86 & 161 prepped doors as here:

Q: Falcon 19 R is sticking when I use the 914 KIL trim.
A: First, make sure the device is being tested while it is mounted to the door with trim installed. (Testing the device on the bench may show behaviors that will not occur once the device is properly mounted.)

If the problem continues when mounted, the center case stop for the main trim cam is not stopping the cam from over rotating allowing the main trim cam to bind/stick which will hold latchbolt in the retracted condition. In this situation, the center case of the device will need to be replaced.

However having said all of the above the most common occurrence could simply be that you have the trim and the exit device bolted together either too tightly or the communication between the exterior trim and the interior exit device is binding somehow meaning the tailpiece may not be exactly lazarbeam straight because everything must be free to operate smoothly and if you have a condition where the function holes have not been drilled straight or there is a condition where you have forced the material on to the door and it does not have a normal amount of “play” this would certainly explain the trouble that you're having. Most certainly bench test all of the parts above and when you transfer it onto the door and you have that problem it might be the installation or the preparation in the door but also check to make sure that your door is not latch found where there is significant force on the face of the latch bolt maybe because the door is hinge bound as well. it does sound like most likely if your bench test proves that the hardware is working properly that it would be a door and door frame issue.

    Q: What K hub will work for 19-R or 19V using a Simplex LP1010?
A: There is not a K hub on the 19R or a 19V as the device uses a main cam. The LP1000 series Kabba Simplex trim will not work with the 19 series devices.
Q: What does BA mean when ordering a Monarch device?
A: "BA" stands for basic assembly or what is now referred to as Exit Only(EO)
Q: What is the part number for the 19 centercase cover?

Q: Has the Monarch 19 ever had electric latch retraction?
A: Yes it has however the Electric Latch Retraction(ELR) option for the 19 Series was discontinued in December of 2006.
Q: What strike is used for in-active leaf on pair of doors with 19-R?
A: The 571 strike is used on the in-active door leaf of a pair or on the 19-V door leaf when both doors are active per template.
Q: What is the difference between Panic Hardware and Fire Exit Hardware?
A: The most obvious difference (in the device) is the lack of mechanical dogging on a Fire Rated Device. There are some internal parts that may be different and the method it is secured to the door may vary. Each specific device has different factors.
Q: When are Panic Devices required?
A: The use of Panic Hardware and/or Fire Exit Hardware is required by the International Building Code (IBC) and NFPA 101 – The Life Safety Code, depending on which code and which edition of the code is being referenced.

The IBC 2006 and 2009 editions – requires Panic Hardware and/or Fire Exit Hardware on egress doors with an occupant load of 50 people or more in the following occupancies:

  • Educational
  • Assembly Occupancies
  • All High Hazard occupancies (regardless of occupant load)

The IBC 2000 and 2003 editions - requires Panic Hardware and/or Fire Exit Hardware on egress doors with an occupant load of 100 people or more in the following occupancies:

  • Educational
  • Assembly Occupancies
  • Certain High Hazard occupancies (regardless of occupant load)

NFPA 101 – The Life Safety Code has not changed the threshold for occupant load in regard to panic hardware as of the 2009 edition, so the 100 occupant figure still applies to projects where NFPA 101 is being enforced. The requirements for High Hazard occupancies also differ between NFPA 101 and the IBC, so consult the pertinent code for more information.

Other requirements for panic hardware include:

  • The actuating portion of the panic device must be at least half the width of the door. The maximum unlatching force shall not exceed 15 pounds.
  • Panic hardware used on balanced doors must be touchpad type, and the touchpad must not extend more than half the width of the door measured from the latch side.
  • Doors serving electrical rooms with equipment rated 1,200 amperes or more and over 6 feet wide that contain overcurrent devices, switching devices, or control devices with exit access doors.
  • (Required, used to email you once question is answered.)
