Q: just wondering if you can give me a hand whit this little problem. I need to use a pemko threasshold. And I looking to use some thing like the model 1951. but my cuestión is . you have any interlocking whit this same dimensions. for all you help thanks
A: Please clarify the 1951 model you refer to.
Q: Ron Your youtube videos say just give us a chance to help I’m in Panama working on door thresholds. I haven’t been able to locate suppliers here to meet my needs but thought you may have some suggestions. I’m trying to properly seal the bottom edge of three entry doors. The openings are approximately 42” (I can provide detailed requirements). I want to add thresholds and door shoes.

Unfortunately the door widths are 40 mm and the Pemko shoes that wrap the bottom of the door (preferred) are 1-3/8 or 1-¾. So for the 217DPK door shoe I need to add a filler (.175 thick) or route the back lower edge of the doors to use the 1-3/8 (220DPK). I don’t like the L shape concept.

Regarding the threshold I want something that is 2.5” in width with a height of 0.25 to 0.35” There is a cproduct offered by [Trademark hardware (SKU:P166)]. I was hoping you carry or something similar. If you are concerned about shipping I can use a MBE forwarder in Miami which typically adds 4 days to delivery. My needs are ASAP as I’m only in Panama the next three weeks Hope you have some solutions

A: I am glad you reached out and yes I do have solutions and first here is the threshold that matches your requirements:

Regarding the door bottom, I would suggest you use the Pemko 318AV door bottom as seen here:

and here:

The advantage of this U shaped door bottom is that you can "adjust" during your installation to account for the 1.57" (40mm) door thickness.

Q: Sales It took a little while to locate someone in Panama to help with our door thresholds installation and this has impacted my schedules here in Panama. I need to install thresholds on three doors and have decided to use the Pemko 166D threshold and Pemko 220DPK shoe (We will be modifying the bottom edge of the door for this hardware). I need the following: #1 Door Threshold Pemko 166D 44.25” Dark Bronze Shoe Pemko 220DPK 44” Dark Bronze ( I assume this is provided with the PK9BL insert that is 44.125”) #2 Door Threshold Pemko 166D 38.875” Dark Bronze Shoe Pemko 220DPK 36.625” Dark Bronze ( I assume this is provided with the PK9BL insert that is 36.750”) #3 Door Threshold Pemko 166D 38.875” Dark Bronze Shoe Pemko 220DPK 36.625” Dark Bronze ( I assume this is provided with the PK9BL insert that is 36.750”) I have a forwarding address in Miami that will handle the shipment etc. to Panama. However I need to break the shipment into hopefully two boxes with an invoice amount of < $100. I need to know the estimated dimensions and weight of the boxes so I can calculate the shiping charges from Miami. Please advise of your costs including shipping to Miami. Also I need to know how soon this order could be shipped so I can schedule the work. -Richard
A:

Box 1 with the 3 - Pemko 166D = 11 lbs 48" x 4" x 4"

Box 2 with the 3 - Pemko 220DPK = 8 lbs 48" x 4" x 4"

allow about 25% of the total amount for a shipping charges, as you re requesting we specifically ship this in two separate boxes.

Allow 1 - week to ship and another 3 - days in transit.

Q: Can you provide the invoice amount of each box detailing the product and estimated shipping cost to Miami FL. One Issue I have in import duties. If each box has product <$100 then there is no duty. I can easily handle from Miami to our location in Panama and know the costs -R
A: If the the sub-total is less than $100.00 but shipping charge pushes the total over $100.00 is that a problem?
Q: The shipping is separate. Only the product cost has to be declared. I hope you can processor the order and ship by thursday. This would help with my schedule. Once in Miami it will take 4 days to get to my location. Please advise how I can place the order today
A: Richard - This material will require not less than 1 - week to ship as it is custom and made per order. I stand by ready to enter this order immediately and without delay. Please forward us your billing address, shipping address, tele # and payment information.
Q: OK But I have asked two times for a price so I know what I’m paying. We are losing lots of time just resolving a few questions: The shipping is: [removed] I can call to provide Credit card info or use Paypal. Again please provide invoice so I know what I’m spending Need to get this moving today so I have time her to install. As discussed this will ship in two individual boxes. Would be nice if each box had a separate invoice showing $100 or less. I assume I will receive an email when the product ships Thanks for all your help -Richard
A: We have not delayed in our movements on this weatherstripping order for you, but do understand construction and deadlines and "feel" the pressure on your side to complete your project.

Your payment has been received and the list of materials has been ordered and to answer the question I had not previously, yes - your assumption is correct in that the 220DPK does ship with the PK9BL which is always shipped slightly longer than the order length.

The boxes will not include invoices whatsoever. The shipments will include non-priced packing lists only. We will email you paid invoices with tracking numbers once the orders ship. Once these invoices arrive in your email, you can forward them to your collection agency in Miami to attach to your two shipments.

Q: do you have the PEMKO 114 in a 5" width?
A: What height are you wanting to be at?
Q: Same as shown on the 114. Just need it wider to match the door jamb Joe W
A: Indeed yes - we can do an interlocking threshold that is one half of an inch tall and 5 inch wide from National Guard products.

It is their part number National Guard products 442-5 and can be reviewed here:

Q: in the Pemko catalog is the frost guard option defined?
A: The term of frost guard is simply meant to be the same as a more common or the common industry designation known as “thermally broken” and it would be correct to say that thermally broken = frost guard.

an application of a thermally broken piece of weather stripping from Pemko would be something like the Pemko 216BDGFG 36" Bright Dip Gold Anodized Aluminum Thermal Barrier Door Shoe with Rain Drip - Pemko Prene insert as seen here:

or the Pemko 252x6AFG Mill Finish Aluminum Thermal Break Threshold as see here:

Where are the “key ingredient” is the Black rigid polypropylene key between extrusions which is what provides a thermal barrier (designated by “FG” Frost Guard following finish code).

This piece of hardware does sell by literally preventing metal, which is a very good conductor, from running continuously from the exterior face or elevation of a doorway to the interior elevation of the doorway.

I can personally attest to the significant impact a thermally broken threshold and weather stripping and even hollow metal frame, which are available as thermally broken units as well, where is the exterior temperature will be well below freezing and the interior is practically room temperature.

thermally broken weather stripping and hollow metal doors most certainly are a significant increase in cost on the material up front but I would argue that over the lifetime of an installation the significant savings in HVAC costs far out wavy minor upfront cost.

Q: Hi there – I just want to follow up on the information you gave me on the live chat room regarding the interlocking threshold 114. I was wondering if you can forward to us the model number for drip cap and door bottom that would work with the 114 threshold and HM door. The project is a commercial building (senior living) in Lexington, MA and the application is for exterior egress doors (in-swing) and ADA compliance is required. The width of the HM frame is 8”. Any other suggestion would be appreciated.
A: The Pemko 114A threshold would not be typical for use on a hollow metal door but if you were insistent on installing it I would have the door reside over the area where you can install the Pemko Pemko 66A 36" Mill Finish Aluminum Hook as seen here and shown in my hand sketch as seen here:

Download File

I would also consider adding to the inverted bottom channel of your hollow metal door the Pemko 420APKL 36" Automatic Door Bottom with Pemko Prene insert - Mill Finish Aluminum - Full Mortise Mount as seen here:

this would certainly provide you a “belt and suspenders” type approach.

Q: HI There, I called earlier this morning. Here is a basic drawing of the floor planes and Jamb as the building sets as seen here:

Download File

The interior floor is a little lower than the outside. Water intrusion has been a problem and is coming through the current vertically adjustable threshold. Hoping to find one that does not have that problem. Maybe solid aluminum is better with adjustable weather striping on the door as long as that doesnt create its own leak problem. There is no roof cover and this is facing the storm side.

A: I would use the part number RAMP13 as seen here:

as directly underneath the door as possible

I would use the 18/1 as seen here:

cut to the proper width to fit into the top of the above riser to flush that installation off (held down with epoxy)

I would then use the R.5F as seen here

For the exterior side

I would then use R.75F as seen here

For the interior side I would finish off the installation with a Pemko 4131CRL 36 automatic door bottom as seen here

For good measure I would add the Pemko 209AV 36 underneath the door to seal that area as well as seen here:

I believe everything will be code compliant and give you the proper seal necessary.
