Q: Can wood doors be used with with double egress frames?

A: Yes, wood doors can be used and installed in most hollow metal frame applications including FE-Series and DE-Series Double Egress frames.

Caution - For fire rated applications the wood door manufacturers listing must be reviewed and clearly state that the wood door in question can be used in the desired frame application.

Double door applications (swinging in the same direction and/or double egress) require specific tests to determine if the door construction meets the fire test criteria of that application

Some door manufacturers may not have conducted the specific fire tests for double door applications or the door construction may not have passed the test.
