• This item will ship with 8 nails per foot, one nail for every 1.5 inches for the Dorbin strip when selecting the add nails option

Q: Thanks for the picture of the installed 27B lock strip, Richard. That's very helpful. It LOOKS like it's nailed into the door stop (I can barely make out a small bump near the bottom right of the strip). I can't see any way it could be nailed into the jamb, since the "spring" part would get in the way of nailing it in. Am I right that it's only nailed into the stop?

A: Typically nailed onto the rabbet using a tack hammer and nail set. The flange can be compressed to allow attaching to both the rabbet and the stop face, but I would personally not nail to the stop face if there was a possibility of splitting the wood.

Q: Are nails the best method to installing the Lock Strip

A: Absolutely.

Q: What size cooper nails is required?

A: The nail supplied with the Dorbin 27B Bronze Lock Strip is a 2 penny, or 2d nail which is 15-gauge shank, 0.072" shank diameter, .85" shank length and .153" head diameter and .03" head thickness, but when you order the Dorbin 27B Bronze Lock Strip you can elect to have nails included which are the Dorbin Copper Nails (sold per ounce) as seen here:
