Q: What electric strike can be used with the 1790?
A: None of the Von Duprin electric strikes will work in a retrofit application where the normal standard mechanical strike is mounted to the frame because none of them are thin enough to fit in the 1/2" thickness of the standard mechanical strike.
For new construction;
HM Frame application;
A Von Duprin 6111, 6112, 6113, or 6300 electric strike could work with a 1790 device on HM frames with a wide enough stop to mount the strike onto. Use the template in the 1790 Installation instructions to determine the location of the device from the surface of the strike. This will require a wider stile on the door depending on the height of the stop and which strike is used.
Aluminum Blade Stop Frame application;
The 6111 and 6113 have a blade stop ship (part 110055 x finish) for use on aluminum blade stop frames. Use the template in the 1790 Installation instructions to determine the location of the device from the surface of the strike. This will require a t least a 2 1/2" stile with the 6111 and at least 2 1/4" stile with the 6113.
The 6300 strike would require a block mounted to the frame to create a surface at the height of the blade stop or cutting out the blade stop for the length of the 6300 strike to create a flat surface to mount the strike onto. Use the template in the 1790 Installation instructions to determine the location of the device from the surface of the strike. This will require a wider stile on the door depending on which option is used. Q: What is the minimum stile needed for the 1790 Exit Device?
A: The minimum stile needed for the 1790 Exit Device is 1-3/4"
Q: Does the 1790EO device ship with a nightlatch cylinder assembly?
A: The 1790EO does not ship with a cylinder assembly.
If you wish to convert a 1790EO to NL or HB operation, then you will need the 179CA cylinder assembly and a standard rim cylinder.
Q: yes on the door O matic 1790 EO will that replace an existing 1790 that has a rim cylinder installed in door without adding anything else - I just need to replace the panic bar , and leaving the existing rim cylinder to be able to unlock from exterior
A: I see - yes - order a 1790EO and it does allow you to mate it to a rim cylinder. You do not need to order the 1792 to get that functionality.
Q: can you tell me the easiest way to identify the dor 1790 vs the kawneer 1786 devices
A: The easiest way to identify the difference between these two exit devices is that the Dor-O-Matic 1790 touchbar goes across the entire width of the device whereas the Kawneer 1786 touchbar does not.
