Q: Is this a pair? What is the offset from back of upper mounting bracket to center of shock? What exactly does this come with?
A: This roof shock is sold as each and not in a pair, includes the top mounting brackets, includes the bottom mounting boot and the bolts for securing the unit to the lid into the sidewall - regarding the top mounting bracket you will get one of each hand as the factory does this intentionally so that you do not have to worry about what side your mounting it on.
Regarding the offset dimension that you are requesting, please reply to this email with a sketch of the dimensions specifically that you are looking for and I will take a measurement of a unit and advise.
Q: I have a unit with a Bilco serial number 50042847 - Can you tell me the part number for the replacement shock?
A: Indeed yes - your Bilco serial number 50042847 is from a floor access door and the vault door model number is a TER-4 as seen on page 32 of the Bilco full line catalog as seen here:

which requires a replacement lifting mechanism part number RPSWJ300 as seen here:

Update - I received a more accurate answer fro the factory which was:
1 each RPRS400 as seen here:

1 each RPRS180 as seen here:

The reason for this is in this instance I found that the door happened to have a drawing associated with it and it showed the spring load that was used which is what was originally specified. Occasionally we find discrepancies and the best way for you to be sure in this instance is to find out from the client/end user how many they see in the door and are they apparentlyClick Here the same or different diameters.
Q: Please help with me replacement hardware for this roof hatch as seen here:

A: It appears this roof hatch never had a lifting mechanism but only the articulating arms on either side. Since this is so, I can only recommend the following list of items needed to make your roof hatch operation, but because this is is an unknown manufacturer, I have to stop short of committing to compatibility of these parts and your lid as I just am unsure of using one brand of roof hatch and using another brand of hardware.
I would review the following items:

Q: I cannot find anything close to the springs that are mounted on this roof hatch. Can you please tell me if you think mounting 2 - Bilco RPRS100 Replacement 100 lb Lifting Mechanisms for Roof Scuttle will work?
A: Please reply to this email with photos of your existing unit.
Q: The shocks that’s in the photo :

is to short. We need shocks that is about 20” open and 14” when it’s closed. It’s a custom made hatch. And it’s two half’s and it has a pitch, they are not flat.
A: The good news is that is a Bilco lifting mechanism that he has there now - I can see the problem is that the degree of opening allows the tubes to escape each other and that is inherently the problem. What the client may attempt to do is to decrease the mounting point distance by moving the brackets on the lid closer to the hinge or pivoting edge.
Alternatively what the client can attempt to do is to install a unit that has longer telescoping tubes such as the Dur-Red 15 PI Pressure Intensifier for Normal Stair Hatch (NSH) - with single mounting brackets:

The issue is that rough hatches are not designed to open to the degree that image one shows.
With a homemade roof hatch - it is all guess-work for the client - Bilco nor Dur-red not absupply.net does not and will not endorse any usage of their equipment on products other than those specifically designed engineered manufactured and tested by them.
