Q: What cam does this lock require on the cylinders?
A: This sliding door lock, unlike most Adams Rites locks, works with the "Standard Cam" (and not an Adams Rite cam) as defined here:

And an example of this can from Kaba Ilco can be seen here:

Q: I have two bypass sliding wood garage doors (1 3/4" thick). I want to install one of these deadbolts on each door (with strike plates on the frame on the sides). Would this lock work for that purpose?
A: Yes - the Adams Rite 2331 HD Deadlock & Strike would work superbly for this application however I can think of significantly less expensive ways to do this such as using a PB1068-US3 By-Pass Door Lock, Brass, Keyed Different as seen here:

which would simply lock both doors simultaneously.
Q: Thanks for the info! Do you sell cylinders that work with the Adams Rite 2331 HD Deadlock & Strike? I’d like to be able to lock/unlock from the inside and outside of the garage, so I’d need 4 cylinders. Also, I’d like them to all be keyed the same. This is for an old carriage house, so we’d like it to look nice- maybe a Baldwin product? And something that comes in black of oil rubbed bronze. Thanks! Gwen
A: Yes we do - please tell me how thick the door is and I will determine the length of the cylinder required
The Adams Rite 2331 can be ordered in a Dark Bronze Anodized finish for the exposed face of the lock and the exposed strike in the jamb.
Baldwin discontinued their line of sliding door locks a couple of years ago and while I have one or two in stock it would not be in the proper finish nor in the proper quantity.
Accurate Hardware however manufacturers a very elegant keyed sliding door lock which is the part number #2001 SDL-2 Sliding Door Lock as seen here:

the advantage of this lock would be the fact that you would be able to order it in black or oil rubbed bronze and that it gives you the choice of backside as well which is the edge of the door to the center of the cylinder hole, and will feature a dustbox which you would very much want to have as an option so that you do not see the inner construction of the frame and have particulate creep into the living space.
Q: Do you have any AdamsRite 2231 deadbolts with a 4066 thumbturn laying around your shop? We are struggling with them from our order with PO 066807. It seems like the tailpiece isn’t long enough to throw the bolt completely. Would you agree or are we doing something wrong?
A: The 2331 does not use the standard Adams Rite AR cam. The 2331 actually uses a typical "standard" or what was (still is) referred to as a Yale cam.
See page 36 of the Adams Rite catalog here for the refernce to the non-standard (though it is a standard) cam:

and
see "Special Cylinder Cam"
Then goto page 179 and review the refernce to the necessary cam.
This is the cam you need:
