Video review of Adams Rite 2331 HD Deadlock & Strike

Item reviewed in this video:
This video is to bring you a closer look at the Adams Rite 2331 HD Deadlock & Strike. A heavy-duty deadbolt for heavy-duty metal or wood sliding doors. The 2331 throws a massive brass bolt into its strike, then expands two stainless steel dogs to secure the door. Comes with the armor front (626 satin chrome finish). Strike plate is also included. Screw pack is included for the strike and screws for holding the body into the edge of the door. Single turn of keys expands or retracts the bolt. Operates with standard mortise cylinder (standard cam) or with standard mortise cylinder thumb turn. No latch action. Comes in a satin chrome, satin bronze, polished brass finish. There is a link below this video to the instructions - http://absupply.net/ext/2331instructions.pdf. The critical dimension for mortising the lock body to the door is a specific reference point to the center line of the bolt that you can refer to for the strike plate (mortised into the frame) and the lock body itself. Knowing the center line of the cylinder is an important aspect as well. You might want to have the center point of the cylinders to be compatible with other existing doors in the vicinity. From that point you can see what the balance of the dimensions are for the mortise. You have an overall cavity height of 3-11/16", 2-9/16" dimension from the center line of the cylinder to the top of the body. Overall width preparation for the front of the lock is 1-1/32". Overall height 5.75", 1-3/64" top of the front preparation to the top of the body preparation. When mortising, prep for the body first and then prep the plate second. For installing the cylinder, the dimension that they give you is the center line of the cylinder face to the top of the strike (3-39/64"). This dimension will give you a literal translation between the center line of the cylinder and the top of the strike. Overall height of the strike is 4-11/16". The body will need to be deep enough to accept the bolt when you mortise - the projection they give is 3/4" from the edge of the lock. You also need to make sure the height accommodates the height of the dogs - about 3/8". The diameter for the mortise cylinder is 1-1/4". You will use the Standard Cam. The template (catalog cut sheet) is also below this video - http://absupply.net/ext/2331_Template.pdf. 1-3/4" backset (edge of the door top the center line of the cylinder). The combination of the in-socket where the door slides into needs to take into account projection of the cylinders off the face of the door.
