Q: I would like to replace two kaba-Ilco 530-53-51 deadbolts with a brushed chrome model which I don't believe they offer. Can you tell me if the Segal model will interchange? Having watched the video they appear to be the same. Do they have the same backset? Will the Segal rekey to match my other kabas? Thanks Ben
A: Ben - the Segal will "interchange" perfectly and prove to be a substantially better quality unit to what you are accustomed to.
Regarding the keyway for the exterior cylinders, the Kaba Ilco as seen on page 2-34 here:

and the Segal as seen on page 2-65 here:

are not the same keyway.
First you can reuse the original rim cylinders on the exterior or you would simply replace them with the Segal rim cylinders and have new keys for these doors.

Q: Hi, for the Segal SE15332, does it need to be a solid wood door. My door to the garage sounds like it is hollow.
A: I would suggest through (sex) bolting it through the door if you do indeed have a hollow-core door or something with a core that is insufficient when it comes to screw withdrawal strength.

It would be prudent to measure the door thickness because when you say that it sounds like its hollow you may have an 1-3/8” thick door in that case you need a specialty through bolt.
