Q: Tailpiece Number 14 is 2-3/8". How long is it? Do you add the key cylinder with it?
A: The length of the Kaba Ilco 862A-00-10 Extra Long Tailpiece is the effective length of the actual flat portion of the tailpiece itself and does not include the cylinder body length. a photograph of that tailpiece with a tape measure adjacent to it as seen here will effectively illustrate the actual length of the unit:

Q: I'm looking for a rim cylinder tailpiece with a 3/16" width. Do you have anything like that? Here is one I noticed, but couldn't find a width.
A: We spoke on the telephone and you explain to me that you were looking to add a Medeco rim cylinder and have it operate through the latch bolt from a Schlage B100 series deadbolt. You and I discussed the difficulty of making or forcing this marriage between different manufacturers lock parts and I did discuss with you the possibility of you taking the Kaba Ilco 862A-00-10 Extra Long Tailpiece and putting it on a bench grinder to take its thickness which is .248” wide as seen here:

and grinding it down to the .1875” with that you state your last boat requires.
We've course did discuss the wisdom in perhaps purchasing an entire new locks at that would give you not only the key control that you require but also the increased security as that latch from the Schlage B100 series deadbolt what's a Grade 2 bolt at best.
you related that you were looking for a confluence of key control and substantial build quality and I would simply recommend that you look for a Grade 1 lock that is UL437 compliance as well.
my particular product recommendation would be the Schlage B800 Series cylinder: Primus XP High Security*, UL437** Listed as seen here:

** Add UL437 for the highest protection Optional UL437 listed cylinders feature hardened steel drill pins. They are tested and certified to be pick and drill resistant and can withstand extreme physical attacks.
Q: Thanks for the video, I wouldn't have known about longer tail pieces! If I may ask: is this a "universal" one, meaning, is there anything I should watch out for, in order to be sure it'll fit when I exchange a short tail piece by a longer one (for a thicker door)? I m not experienced in that I have no idea whether there are any differences in "shoulder" type of the tail piece? Or do you think such tail piece ought to always "fit in" the rode? I'm worried that the shoulder piece comes in different sizes or such. Could you please share your thoughts? I hope you are still reading this, and Many thanks in advance!
A: I would recommend that you reply to this with a photograph of the unit that you are replacing, a photograph of the cylinder along with the keys that operate it. We will attempt to ascertain the proper longer tailpiece for your application.
