Q: master key
A: What is the specific question please?
Q: I need a cylinder that can have a master key and only 1 key for tenants to get in with.
A: That is certainly no problem - what are the other cylinders or locks in this system?
Q: They are canimex cylinders that come with the garage doors Thanks
A: I am totally unfamiliar with this cylinder. What keyway do they operate with?
Q: Hi, You may be able to see from my order history that I had recently ordered this item twice. The first time it came I was really thrown off by the "C-Clip" mechanism and ended up breaking it trying to remove it. I then noticed none of my standard Schlage "C-Clips" fit this rim cylinder. I did notice that the little sliver of metal that holds the top pins and springs was removable, so I tested rekeying that way and it worked great. Rather than mess with trying to find a C-Clip that would fit locally, I just re-ordered from you the same unit below. Upon receiving the unit however I am really bummed to see the metal strip that holds the top pins in is in a different configuration and has a piece of metal that blocks it's removal for re-keying. I've now spent somewhere over $20 on 2 orders that I can't seem to re-key. Could you please help me out in how an amateur can rekey this thing? I have successfully re-keyed numerous schlage handle cylinder s and deadbolts without these issues, but this "schlage compatible" cylinder from Kaba-Ilco has be absolutely flustered, Thank you very much for any help you can provide!
A: D - the best advise I can give you is to:
1. Not attempt to rekey a cylinder by removing the top "sliver" of metal. This piece is not meant to be removed and is to be trusted when replaced.
2. Approach the rekeying aspect be removing the "C" clip. Obviously loosing this or any part, for that matter, will prevent a successful rekey.
3. We do offer a rekying service here and perhaps nxt time we can rekey the cylinder prior to shipping.
Finally my opinion on the matter is expressed in this video titled "Why hiring a Locksmith is usually the best idea". My opinion, is just exactly that. Your success is our success but rekying locksets without all the proper tools, and in your case, without proper parts in stock as back up, is risky business:

Having said this: rekey by removing the C clip (simply do not loose it).

Q: Hi, Is there a tool you sell for removing the C-Clips for the rim cylinder I ordered below? I had purchased a C-Clip remover sometime in the past that was supposedly designed for schlage work and it was utter junk, didn't have the clearances needed to pop the clip off. If you sell a C-Clip remover for the Kaba-Ilco Rim Cylinder I ordered I'd be interested. Also do you have a link to extra C-Clips for this type of Rim Cylinder? The problem before was not me losing the clip, but one of the "teeth" of the clip snapped off, and my C-Clips were incompatible.
A: I stopped using those "C" removing tools in 1990 as they are costly, specific to a single design, awkward to use and promote the clip "flying away from me".
My procedure is detailed here:

I asked Kaba if they had these "C" clips, also know as Plug Retainers and they responded:
I don't stock them separately but I suspect the 702LD-00-10 specifically
made for the 1539 KIK should work just fine.
The Kaba Ilco 702LD-00-10 Plug/Cylinder E-Ring Retainer can be reviewed here:
