Q: Rich, Thanks for taking my phone call at around 5:50 pm about what my options are for floor mounted door stops that are located in a concrete patio flooring arrangement. As I indicated in the phone conversation, I suspect that the Ives FS18S type of floor stop is in the general area of options...the floor has a hole, the hole is 2" deep with a threaded bushing pre-installed in it to accept a male threaded insert shaft, such as what you see with the Ives product. The diameter of the threaded insert bushing in the hole is 3/8". Hopefully, the attached photos:

A: While it is certainly possible to install the
IVES FS18S Floor Stop - Steel with Rubber
The nature of the installation requirements where literally pouring grout into the evacuated hole is required .
I would think this not to be the easiest solution.
The Ives FS446 as seen here:

(and the only difference between these models is simply the finish - for instance I see the color of the door handle is polished brass there for you would order the US3 version).
Having said that if you have a 3/8 of an inch threaded inserts down in the bottom of that led expansion anchor you will certainly want to use this model because it's specifically features a ?” threaded rod for installation.
Obviously you have a little floor repair to do but given the fact that the base diameter of this unit is two and a half inch you may need to do nothing other than, if possible, place back into place any missing tile fragments that you have.
What specifically may I do to assist at this time?
Q: Mr Howard i was wondering if you knew where i could find info on location placement of this floor stop. How far from wall and hindge of door. For a school installation. Thank you
A: I'm not aware of any defined, printed or established rules that govern the placement of a floor stop however I would suggest that you place it is close to the outside edge of the door as possible and be sure to place it far enough away from the wall so that the projection of the trim does not make unintentional contact with the wall.
