A: While it is a method not endorsed by the manufacturer, it is not uncommon in a wood door application to drill through the door and then countersink and then install the exterior pull handle using the standard type 1 through bolts* and then install the flat push plate over that. Again this is not endorsed by the manufacturer and the published way to do this would be to have the bolts come through the push plate on the push side of the door and the flat head machine bolts would sit inside of a countersunk washer.

* I have had a customer call and tell me that the handle was defective because it pulled through the door and then when I visited the job site i discovered the way they mounted this material was indeed in this concealed unapproved fashion.
