A: The factory recommended method of securing it to the side wall of the precast concrete is that the unit should be poured in place. In lieu of that method, angle iron should installed around the inside perimeter of the opening 3-1/2” deep and 3” on the horizontal.

The frame can then be bolted to the angle iron. See attached diagrams.

Note in the diagram that the support shelf must also be supported in either method.

A: You could most certainly unscrew and unattach the lifting mechanisms, hold open arm along with the hinges so as to completely remove the lid.

While I'm not sure the factory would oblige a request, we could request that they assemble and then for shipping purposes disassemble the lid completely and ship separately for your convenience.
