Product Description:
MS1847-13-630 Deadlatch for Ultra-narrow Stile Sliding Doors - Stainless Steel Finish

MS1847 Series MS® Deadlock/Latch for ultra-narrow stile siding sliding doors (glass or aluminum) features a self-protecting bolt with adjustable bolt projection.

  • Vertical Hub, Square Face
  • Function: A compact lock designed to fit within very narrow sliding door stiles without compromising the high degree of security these doors need. The sturdy stainless steel bolt has two important features not usually found in sliding door hardware. First, it is adjustable: a full 3/16” lengthening or shortening of bolt projection is possible by turning an exposed screw in the face of the lock. This can compensate for considerable misalignment between door and jamb. Second, the MS1847 bolt is self-protecting: if the door is closed with the bolt in the locked position, the bolt will retract immediately on contact with the jamb, thus preventing damage or accidental lock-out.
  • Operation: Can be operated by a standard cylinder, so the glass door may be keyed-in with other types of doors. Three hub slot positions allow installation even where jamb and stile design provides severely limited turn clearance.
  • Finish: 630 - Stainless Steel
  • Case: Stainless steel, measures 1/2” x 3-3/16” x 1-1/8”.
  • Anti-lift Bolt: Three-ply laminated stainless steel. Designed to withstand approximately one-half ton force, either horizontal or vertical. Anti-lift bolt stops both door-from-jamb pry bar attacks and attempts to lift the door from its track.
  • Deadlock Body: Square
  • Latch version: Self-Latching; the same stainless steel hookbolt, but spring-loaded for automatic latching, is provided by the MS1847-11 and MS1847-13. All dimensions and available accessories for the MS1847 deadlocks also apply to MS1847 deadlatches.
  • Standard Package: Case-packed with machines screws for mounting.
  • Shipping Weight: 1/3 lbs.
  • Cylinder Pulls, Turns and Trim Strikes are available separately.

Questions and Answers
Q: Is there a mechanical combination option for the Adams Rite MS1847 series lock?
A: There is not. We only have key cylinder escutcheons and thumb turns for the MS1847.

Q: What is the degree of rotation on the hub of the MS1847-13-630 ?
A: When viewing the MS1847-13-630 from the manufacturers perspective as seen here:

Download File

The degree of rotation to put that vertical hub and the latch latch bolt into a unlatched position would require a counterclockwise rotation of the hub. If you were standing on the opposite side of that drawing it would therefore require a clockwise rotation of the hub.

When considering order the -13 variant versus the -11 variant the important consideration to take into account is the position of the thumb turn when unlocking the unit meaning if you were viewing the -13 variant from the above link and you had to rotate the hub counterclockwise you need to be sure that the trim thumb piece does not interfere with the jam or any case work. Simply stated you may not be able to rotate it far enough to get the latch to unlatch which is why people will order the -11 variant.

Q: I'm looking for a hook latch that will latch upon closing with out doing a secondary action. "Lock out" possibility is not a concern. I am looking for dead latching upon closing on a sliding door, no outside entrance function is required, no keyd locking, no exterior activation of any kind. Do you have any products that function like this?
A: Yes we do - on the exterior do you want a trim or do you want no trim whatsoever?
