Q: Just installed a adams rite electric strike mod number 7100- 510 today and for some reason it worked when I first buzzed it to test it before install but once I finish installing it won’t release. It’s at fail secure but I did notice when I flip it upside down it will release. And suggestions? I’m thinking I will replace the transformer next.
A: I have run into this problem in the past - here are the closets for this - you have an insufficient amount of voltage, amperage to the strike so I would make sure that the transformer that you're using produces an adequate amount of voltage and current. You'll need to make sure that the gauge of the wires is sufficient for the job and what happened to me when I first saw this is that the installer placed the power supply several hundred feet away from the electric strike and the voltage drop was so substantial that it caused the unit not to work - I did also discovered that when I turned it upside down and it worked because the internal solenoid was being assisted by gravity when it was turned upside down. This is surely a power supply issue. Please report back your findings.

Use your multimeter and set it for voltage and ensure that you're getting the proper quantity of volts and then use your multimeter and set it to amperage and make sure that you have the proper amps coming to the unit when it's under load.
