Q: I have a customer that has a gap between two commercial doors that needs to be filled. I cannot find the manufacture of these doors to get an astragal to match the one on the other side. I was hoping you could help. Attached are pictures. Could you recommend one of your products that would help? The gap is 1/4 inch from pile to other door. I wish to Add weatherstripping on the other door to close the gap. I can replace it if I have to.
A: I understand you will leave the existing weatherstripping and look to add to the doors to help close this gap.
I would suggest you add this item, actually 1 - pair:

This material has a small footprint, in a dark bronze finish and the pile is soft, short yet effective.

Q: I'm having trouble weather stripping my door. The gap between the two doors at the top of the opening is consistent and tight however the Gap from the pull handle height and all the way down to the ground goes from about an eighth of an inch to one half of an inch. Can you help? - Dave D.
A: Dave thank you for calling this morning and as discussed the item that I would strongly consider is here:

and again at the bottom of this response and will be applied on the face of each door surface mounted on the exterior.
The reason I would do so is because it will allow you to taylor the projection of the pile over time so that should the margin change between the doors you can adjust accordingly in and out it which will give you the best long-term sort of solution.
Having said that I would also strongly consider that you review the concept of fixing the problem permanently meaning bringing the doors to a point of them being parallel to each other I should say plumb and parallel to each other.
The fact that you have such a huge margin between the door of a half of an inch below the door handles tells me that something is wrong.
You mentioned that the jambs were plumb but the doors were not - that tells me that there's a problem with the hanging hardware, the pivots or the hinges, and frankly I would have dressed correcting the hinge or the pivot problem first and once that is corrected then weatherstrip at the end. Specifically we also had discussed addressing that my concept would be to remove the current hardware and install a surface mount continuous hinge.
The advantage of this piece of hardware is that you have a permanent lifetime guarantee on the hanging hardware which will absolutely keep the door in a fixed position as it is in relationship to the jamb.
If the jams are plumb and the frame is square, some reason must account for the huge gap below the door handle and the only thing that could account for that is the margin at the top of the door where the hinges are located on each door must be significantly greater than the margin at the bottom.
Please review all of these dimensions and advise.
Should you get to the point where you would like to have us recommended installer to come out and help you mitigate this issue I've got a good list of local people that can help you address this issue permanently and consider it a final solution regarding hardware that hangs the door, along with how you have the door weatherstripped, and once the hinge problem is solved - and the frame is found to be intact or corrected so that it is a stable frame - you might not have to replace the weather stripping whatsoever.
This is the concept discussed:
