Q: Do you sell heavy door catcher? Can Rockwood 901 be installed on heavy glass with aluminum door framed door? If not can you give a me a proposal? We need to use a door catcher to ensure tightness of the door. It is a double leaf aluminum glass door. It is about 150kg one leaf. We have a door closer.
A: With a door that weighs 330 lb. and a door closer installed, there is nothing a magnetic catch will do to help keep the door tighter against the frame. Why is there a need to hold the door tighter to the frame? Is it possible your door closer is inadequate for the application?
Q: The client want to have it air tight and I don't understand why.
A: Send me a detailed list of all the hardware installed currently on the door and we will review and make all appropriate suggestions.
Q: Please can you let me know how strong the pull is on the magnets.
A: We did some in house unscientific testing on the 901 magnetic catches a few years ago. If you are using the full width strike it takes 6.93 ft lbs of pull to release the catch. If you are using the smaller single strike it takes 2 ft lbs of pull to release the catch. I hope this helps.

Q: Is there an option to get a stronger pull? Thanks
A: Per our phone conversation regarding the Rockwood 901 Extra Heavy Duty Magnetic Catch featuring a pull strength of about 7 lbs, you requested a pull force in the 15 lb range.
I can suggest for your consideration these following Sugatsune items.
Per page 102 here:

You will see a table of magnetic catches with high holding strength.
Namely the MC-0083D or the MCH might work well for you.
Details on the MCH are here:

Q: Why do the magnets eventually get pulled out of this type of catch? Thanks for the video.
A: I have personally never encountered a failure of this type in over two decades of experience with this product - can you be more specific of the circumstances by which this happens?
Q: Thanks for the info . . . looking for something smaller.?
A: The Rockwood 900 as seen here is smaller:

Q: I have the 901 latch and it's not nearly strong enough. Is there something stronger with the same or larger form facto?
A: Nothing with the same form factor. What are you securing closed and how heavy is it?
Q: Hello, After reviewing your you tube video, which was very helpful thank you. I feel this product may not be sufficient for our application. What we have is a 36" x 108" 1-3/4" solid architectural core door. What is your input on the Rockwood latch for this application and do you have another latch that could be recommended? Thank you for your help
A: Magnetic catches like the Rockwood 901 are not intended to hold closed a 9/0 tall door that likely weighs 160 lbs. Having said this I would not disagree that multiple Rockwood 901 latches would keep the door in the closed position.
I would however consider The Rockwood 590 Roller Latch as seen here:

as it would be considered to be a typical, proper type of hardware for this application.
