Invisible Hinge 218FR Series FRUS26D - Satin Chrome

SOSS® Invisible Hinge model #218FR is for use in wood or metal applications that are 1-3/4″ thick. The model #218FR is made of zinc and steel materials. Nylon links provide added strength and durability. This full size door style hinge will provide superior appearance and durability. Our Hinges are found in many applications where flush fit, compact size and smooth operation are necessary features. SOSS® Invisible Hinges open a full 180° and are a single action hinge.

The Underwriters Laboratories labeled the model #218FR SOSS® Invisible Hinge can be used on hollow metal , sheet metal, tin clad, steel composite or wood core swinging type fire doors and frames with a 20 minute rating.
Use at least one fire-rated hinge for every 20″ of door height or portion thereof, or one hinge for every 60 lbs. or fraction thereof, whichever calculation demand more hinges.
Wood and Machine screws are included.

Questions and Answers

Q: Doors are 1 3/4 thick With 3/4 applied moldings, wall also has 3/4 applied molding. Base molding is also 3/4" with a 3/4 shoe molding Doors are 8' tall Are there any options for a invisible hinge?? Or do we need to use a pivot hinge and if so do we need one in the middle of the door. Photos as seen here:

A: While there are no options for a concealed hinge that is going to work to permit you to rotate the door past 90 degree you can use a pivot hinge and while you are not obligated mandatorily to install and intermediate pivot it is recommended in this application.

The proper pivot to use for this application would be the ABH 0147 1-1/2" Offset Pivot Set and can be purchased from us and its installation instructions can be seen here:

At the time you receive your order we will provide you and or your installer detailed guidance as to how and where to position the pivot hardware to accurately permit you to swing the doors to 180° open.

A: White is a yes - though this will be from a different manufacturer and have a lead time of 4 - 5 weeks. I have emailed you the cost. That unit price is for 1 - door (you need two) and include the bottom and top only, in white.
