Q: What is the difference between Primus and Primus XP?

A: Primus XP was released on 11/08/2007 with the following highlights:

The XP is patented until 2024.

Primus XP has the addition of a new #7 fingerpin with a unique angle combined with a new pocket location. All XP systems must contain this new fingerpin.

You can upgrade an older non-XP system by either rekeying your existing system and distributing new XP keys with a new SBM (Side Bit Milling) or purchase new keys and cylinders with new SBM.

All new Primus keying systems will be Primus XP unless otherwise directed by the customer.

Older Schlage Primus systems will continue to be supported.
