Q: I need a WUTS key blank for Schlage lock
A: WUTS, (this is actually the last name of the original founder of Schlage), is a Classic Restricted Schlage keyway. We can order these for you in multiples of 50 and a Letter of Authorization (LOA) is required.

Q: What keyway works across most Schlage product? I thought it was the "K" keyway, but recently saw a diagram where "L" appeared to cover more.
A: The 'L' is the "All Section" blank that will work all Classic Obverse keyways C, CE, E, EF, F, FG, G
The 'K' is the "Multi Section" blank that will work the F, FG, G keyways.
The L is made of stainless steel is stainless steel is a more durable base material when compared to brass has the key needs to be more durable. The reason is that the ‘L’ is a physically smaller key in terms of its thickness as it's made to pass all of these different cylinder keyways. The all section key blank made of brass would be quite a flimsy key. Also be mindful that the all-section key blank is made of stainless steel and cutting it on your typical key cutting equipment may not be a preferable way to duplicate these keys and Schlage does recommend having the keys cut at the factory.
Another reason you may want to avoid the all section key blank is because it will certainly not fit as snuggly into the keyway allowing a premature point where wear and tear will render the key ultimately inoperable in the cylinder.
Q: Can the Schlage L section key blanks be cut in the field?
A: In the classic family of keyways the "L" key section is the highest level key. When a 35-100 or 35-101 is specified with an "L" section then stainless steel blanks are supplied. There is no option for the standard material. The thickness of the key is very thin in order to fit into other keyways so it is made out of stainless steel to prevent breakage. Consequently, the key may damage cutters in the field, so we recommend that all "L" keys are ordered as cut keys from the factory (see note below). If a key is cut in the field then a rotary style machine must be used. Non-Primus keyblanks in the "L" key section are available in the Pricebook.
