Q: Why would someone order the 7800 series in lieu of the 8200 series?
A:
The 7800 is used for knob trim whereas the 8200 series is used for lever trim and as a result the springs built within the lock case need to be built according to the weight of the trim that is being equipped on the mortise lock. If you used a lever trim on the 7800 you would find unsatisfactory performance because the trim would very likely not rotate back to the fully unlocked position and if you used a knob trim on the 8200 series, while it would work you might notice that the spring tension is awfully high when trying to rotate a knob.
Q: Is the FW an available option on an LNL trim?
A:
It would not be. The 8200 is only available with a freewheeling option with the FE escutcheon. The escutcheon trim is made to function as freewheeling.
