A: After speaking to technical support at Rixson, we agree lubricating the spindle from the Rixson 19504 AS Door Portion should not be required however it is certainly possible, since this is the bottom pivot, potentially of an exterior door, the spindle stud is no longer clean and free to dirt, dust and debris.
Having said this, unhang the door, visually inspect the spindle stud in the floor portion and the door armature, clean both bottom components and lubricate. I would consider using a lithium grease as oil will drip onto the floor.
However consider the real potential for the reapplying of grease / oil to be a routine operation as applying a lubricant will simply act to attract more dirt, dust and debris.
