Q: I was cited by an inspector who told me that the honeywell On/Off fluid power gas valve needed to be replaced with an Asco valve because the manufacturer no longer recognizes the honeywell valve. Is this correct?
A: In my experience this would only be required when you were upgrading or modifying or working on the system. it is my experience it if no changes are being made on the system whatsoever and you did not need to service the unit then a proactive change would not be mandatory.
Having said that it is also my experience that the inspector, the authority having jurisdiction, has the final say however if you believe this individual is incorrect in their conclusion you can certainly appeal that.
Q: How many years does ot take for the karbaloy chemical agent to expire. When do we need to refill the tank if ever.
A: The Karbaloy chemical needs to be replaced every time a recharge is done on the system or every 12 years when a hydro test is done.
Q: Does it have an open and close valve so I can remove an existing one, which is still charged?
A: The Range Guard 60-120005-001 RG-6G Fire Extinguisher Cylinder with Valve - 18 Flow, 6 Gallon
does indeed include a Cylinder Valve.
Q: can the new tank be attached to an older system that has the threaded cap attachment?
A: What older system do you have? Best to reply with photographs.
