Q: Hi, how sturdy is this for a bedroom door? I live in an old house with room mates, and I am not able to change the old key locks as its painted over. Would this be a good option for a big bedroom door?

My opinion is that the Pro-Lok ELK-111-KD Chrome Hasp Lock, 2-1/2" x 2-3/4", Keyed Different would be plenty sturdy but would suggest simply that you replace the existing privacy set with a key block of which I could suggest some of the following inexpensive key lock:
