A: The Pemko 412 series of Automatic Door Bottoms, regardless of color, length or insert / sealing material feature an end plate on the latch side of the door only (the end opposite the hinge sie / opposite the plunger side of the door).

The 412 is not designed to be installed on a highly cycled door. The case also doesn’t have screw bosses and so the end plates are screwed into the door. If there was an end plate on the plunger side, it would require the ADB to be moved away from the door edge by a fraction of an inch and this would require the plunger to either be longer or to stick out much more than others which would cause the ADB to fall out of adjustment more easily.
In short this series of automatic door bottom from this manufacturer is simply value engineered to be conducive to a specific price point within the marketplace.
