Q: Richard, Installation went well. However my doors are residential doors and this Pemko automatic door bottom is made for commercial doors. The only snag is that the end plates are little too wide for a residential 1 3/8 door. I trimmed them to make it work. I don't suppose you sell one that's made for 1 3/8 inch thick doors? Eric B.
A: There will be no problem in accommodating this application.
Simply put - when the order is placed indicate that the door thickness is 1-?” and we will request the factory manufacturer the end plates for this door thickness.
It would be best if you put a caliper on the door thickness because an 1-?” door is generally not 1.375”
When we place the order with them once you have supplied the actual door thickness and if the factory has any requirement in terms of an additional charge to custom manufacture or trim the end plates prior to shipping, we will reach out to you prior to processing the order.
Thank you Richard
Q: Hi, I'm specifying automatic door bottoms for a residential project. Some are going on bedroom doors and the customer is concerned by the "clank" noise when the door opens and the bar retracts. In one of his Pemko video reviews, Richard Howard mentions that there are some models of that specifically address this issue. Can you steer me towards make and model? They will be going into 1-3/4" solid core doors, fully mortised application. Thanks, Borislav
A: Models that specifically address the noise when they drop bar retracts up into the housing would be models like the Legacy 7063 and the 7463 which feature the ‘NRR’ Noise Reduction Rubber insert as seen here:

And while the noise reduction rubber does not make the unit silent it does absolutely significantly decrease or muffle the emitted sound.
Please keep in mind that these models are intended for doors that are 1-3/4” thick.
What specifically may we assist with at this time? Please contact our sales department or reply to this email to process an order.
Q: Rich, I emailed you Monday about the LCN 1070 door closer you are sending me. The same door has an automatic door bottom built into it (PEMKO 411). When the door closes about 5 inches of the sweep on the lock side does not come down. Any idea of how that can be fixed? Saw your YouTube video on installing them. Raymond
A: Raymond is the sill/floor level/ If not does it pitch away from the hinge jamb?
Q: To answer your question, the sill is level. The PEMKO 411 was installed in 2007 and worked well until about two years ago. Seems to be stuck for about 5 inches on the lock side.
A: I would first remove the unit from the door and determine whether or not it operates. If the unit fails to be free at the lock end of the drop bar housing I would move to a complete replacement. It would be worth determining this first because sometimes a drop bar housing can get slightly crimped or bent in preventing the drop bar from moving freely - you also might need to get in there and simply clean the unit out by removing any particular that has built up.
Please report back your findings.
Q: is it possible to order the end caps only compatible with the 411ANBL in a Black / Dark / 10B ish finish and if yes, what is the part #
A: Order the K435 as seen here:

They come standard as Black finish.
