Q: can this strip be installed on the inactive door to conceal the seam between the 2 doors and the active door is an inswing
A: Most certainly it can - the Pemko 357SS 84" Stainless Steel Overlapping Astragal Weatherstripping would be an ideal solution for this application and you would surface mount this to the push side of the inactive door.
Q: What is the manufacturer's recommendation with regards to installing this on a pair of doors, and the appropriate strike to use? Should the astragal be cut around the strike for it to clear? Thank you.
A: National Guard does not have a specific policy or suggestion regarding altering the astragal to accommodate locking hardware.
If you are working with a cylindrical lock I would alter the strike to be a "lip-less" type strike and not modify the astragal whatsoever and if this was not possible I would "slot" the astragal to permit the strike lip to slide into and lastly I would drastically alter the astragal around the strike lip.
Q: Does the Pemko 357SS come with weather strip. The diagram shown online is not clear.
A: No the Pemko 357SS does not include weathersatripping, but it is easy enough to add it as a second line item.
