36" Dark Bronze Anodized Aluminum Door Bottom Door Shoe

Length: 36" Dark Bronze Anodized Aluminum with Black Vinyl insert. Used to seal the area under a door with minimal affect on the appearance of the face of the door. Sealing the gap under the door. Often used to provide protection for the bottom of the door. Channels are punched with elongated slots for easy adjustment. Door sweeps are provided with stainless steel fasteners. Tested and approved under UL10C for fire; ASTM 283 for air flow and ASTM E90 and BS EN ISO 140-3: 1995 for sound control. Also available unnotched upon request.

Q: Is this intended to be surface mount or machined into the bottom of the door?

A: The Pemko 2343DV 36 in. Dark Bronze Anodized Aluminum Door Bottoms Door Shoe is intended to be surface mounted on to the bottom of the door however I don't see why you would be prevented from mortising this to suit your requirements - if it was me, I'd be very tempted to more to see unit so that I did not see the aluminum from the door elevation.
