Is the concept coming together for you how you might piece multiple items on top of each other? Obviously you will need custom length fasteners.

Q: This worked very nicely, thanks again for your help and seeing is believing! I did have to rip down the back of the top piece to flush out with the baseboard. I also did not need the 1/4" shoe piece. and photos of the completed work can be reviewed here:
