Q: Hello Richard, I watched your video about Omnia Companies 1600 F RH 2 1 2 BS Lock Body Handleset X Lever. We have an Omina Entry Door lock Set. We have an issue with the door not opening from the inside. The locking mechanism does not fully retract when the inside handle is used. This occurs intermittently. However we do not have an issue when opening the door from the outside. The handle on the inside is screwed on to the shaft. A set screw is used to hold the handle position. I disassembled the lock set to a certain point. I wanted to take out the lock body, check the model number and order a new body. However I cannot figure out how to remove the handle shaft from the lock body. Hence I cannot take out the lock body from the door. I would appreciate your help in helping me remove the handle shaft from the lock body. Once I remove the handle shaft I can remove the lock body from the door, check the model number and order a replacement. I believe that the lock set is ~20 years old. Please advise. Thanks.
A: It is indeed not immediately obvious how you remove the spindle from the door. However handleset locks - and that is the tip-off as to how to remove the spindle, the term "handleset", require that you remove not only the interior lever but the exterior handleset trim as well as the spindle will be removed from the exterior side.

Please see the reference to the installing finish trim from page 1 in the lower right-hand corner, step 3 of the installation instructions as seen here:
