Questions and Answers
Q: I am refurbishing a set of 6 lockers for inside my home as a conversation piece. I have no intention of using the lock, in fact I want to dissable them so they wont lock anymore. They are all currently locked and I just need to get into them to refurbish them and get the mudd out as they were in a flood years ago out on a gentlemans ranch. What do you suggest I do? A: Cut in through the rear of the locker wall, remove the locks and take them to a locksmith for disassembly and modification such that the locking handle is always operable.
Q: Thanks, but I dont want to cut into them. Wouldnt a key or a combination just easier? Im not even sure I can get the locks off and I dont want to have to cut the nuts or bolts off to do so in order to get them to a locksmith. Am I understanding correctly that getting a key or the combination is some sort of a security risk? What is the reason for not giving me a key or a combination?
A: You are.  That key is a restricted item and only sold to certain client types.  Private individuals are not a qualified client type.  Imagine selling a master key for untold quantities of lockers to a private person.  What possible legitimate need would that person have for a master key?  This is my explanation of the manufacturers policy. I would contact local locksmiths.  I would count on there being a path of lesser resistance.
