Questions and Answers
Q: Are there any limits regarding the thickness of the door?
A: Yes, there woul dbe limits regarding door thickness is this is just one variable in determining appropriateness of the Markar FM 100 AL083 83 in Hinge for the desired application.
Q: Our door is 48 ”wide x 10.5’ tall and 4” thick. Aprox. 490 lbs I’ve researching hinges that could work and most talk about a restriction with “big” doors with not much specifics.
A: There are indeed continuous hinges that will handle the 500 lb weight range - however youre going to find that youre established with height thickness and weight are going to all conspire to put you in a position where you do not have a factory warranty on the hinge, and it is for this reason that I imagine there is “not much specifics” as you mentioned. Why not use offset pivots? As a solution to your requirements for this door along with weight, width, thickness and height parameters a pivot would be sublimely positioned as the best solution.
