Q: Can you use a 4040SE with swing clear hinges on the pull side?
A: The short answer is yes - the LCN 4040SE Single Point Sentronic Series Can be installed on the pull side when you are using swing clear hinges.
The only accommodation that must be made is the use of a special template that will adjust the mounting points of the holder / closer to account for the readjustment or the different location of the vertical axis of pivoting of your swing clear hinges.

and take the dimensions for the closer and track from centerline of swing clear hinge pin for the push side mount.

Q: Can you replace just the solenoid in the 4040SE, 4040SEH, 3130SE, 2310ME, 4310ME?
A: The solenoids are not replaceable by themselves but can be ordered with a subassembly.
On the SE products the track must be replaced, specify finish and voltage
On the ME products the cylinder must be replaced, specify hand, finish, and voltage
Q: Can a magnet, or sentronic device, be released and close the door from a button at a desk?
A: If a door is being held open by the LCN SEM 7800/1900 magnet or any ME/SE Series Sentronic LCN closer, you can remotely release that door to close by ordering the following parts and wiring per ST 1961-3 instructions:
The 8310-861 RF transmitter, or any other 8310 Series RF wireless actuator.
The RF receiver 8310-865 x ST-1961-3. ST-1961-3 wiring instructions can be found here. Q: What is the difference between 4310/4410ME Series and the 4040SE Series closers?
A: The ME Series closer is a Multi-Point hold open device and will hold the door open in any position.
The SE Series is a Single Point hold open device and will hold the door in one position. (determined during the arm installation)
Q: What is the difference between the SE & SEL arms on the LCN 4040SE 24 24V Single Point Sentronic Series?
A: While the length of the track is longer with the SEL, the difference is that with the standard ‘SE’ arm the hold open can only be set from 85° - 110° whereas with the ’SEL’ arm of the hold open can be set from 90° - 120°.

Q: What is the amp draw of a 4040SE?
A: Amps depends on volts because of Ohm's law:
24 volt version draws 90 mAmps (0.090A)
120 volt version draws 30 mAmps (0.030A) Q: Will a 4040SE open and hold at 180°?
A: No, LCN does not have an electronic hold open closer (SE/ME Series) that will provide a solid 180° hold open position.
The 3130SE has an adjustable hold open position from 85° to 110° maximum.
The 3130SEL has fixed hold open positions at 110° ,120°, and 130° maximum.
The 4040SE has an adjustable hold open position from 85° to 110° maximum. (A 70° minimum hold open is possible for a Pull Side mount "ONLY" when ordered by ST-2985.
The 4040SEL has an adjustable hold open position from 90° to 120° maximum.
The 4040SE-DE (pull side) has an adjustable hold open position from 85° to 95° maximum. Maximum reveal of 2-11/16" on pull side.
2310 ME allows 180° opening with a 160° max hold open.
4310 ME allows 180° opening with a 160° max hold open.
4410 ME allows 180° opening with a 170° max hold open.
The only option for a solid 180° hold open is to use an 7800 SEM wall magnet.
Q: Do you need Double Egress arm to install a 4040SE on the Push Side of a door?
A: The 4040SE uses the regular arm for any Push Side mounting (minimum 28" door width).
ST-2788 (a special arm and track) can be used to mount a 4040SE on the Push Side of a smaller (narrow) door. Smallest door it will mount on is 18".
