Q: Does this cabinet come with a lock?
A: As standard, no. Assuming you need a "Larsens-Lock", which can be added to any door style.
The Larsen-Loc® provides access to a locked cabinet, without requiring the breaking
of glass. During an emergency, it permits the cabinet door to be opened simply by pulling sharply on the handle. Factory applied decal reads: “IN CASE OF FIRE ONLY – PULL FIRMLY ON
HANDLE”. By specifying the Larsen-Loc®, access to a locked cabinet is totally independent of the desired door style and glazing. All door styles can be combined with the Larsen-Loc®,
including a solid metal door. The standard Larsen-Loc® on a Solid Door would be appropriate for gymnasiums or any locations where emergency access is required but where any kind
of glazing or glazing opening may not be suitable. The Solid Door with Larsen-Loc® also can be specified as an Institutional Door (emergency access only with a key) by deleting
the pull handle and decal.
Q: I looked at the product and it doesn't say anything about a fire rating. As someone who doesn't know fire safety I would say all cabinets are fire rated. Can a cabinet be fire rated or not?
A: Thank you for your question. There is a significant difference between fire rated and non-fire rated. This cabinet is not fire rated. Larsens adds a "FS" to the beginning of their part numbers to indicate the unit is fire rated. "FS" stand for their Flame-Shield option.
The fire-rated cabinet can be found here: Fire-rated
JL Industries has a similar part number system to indicate the unit is fire rated, but they add a "FX"
