Q: What is the inside diameter of hole

A: Since the diameter of the Keedex GRD-KNOB Is 4-17/32” and the gauge of the steel is 14 gauge this would make the inside dimension very approximately 4.38” (calculated here: (1/32*17+4)-.0747-.0747)

Q: can this be installed on a metal gate

A: Yes and in fact the Keedex GRD-KNOB 3 1/2" Guard Knob for Gates is absolutely intended to be installed on metal gates.

Q: Good Morning, I called the other day about a knob guard for our pool gate area. Thank you for taking the time to speak with me. I have attached photos with a tape measure to see if the GRD-KNOB 3.5 inch might work. I watched your measurement video but wanted to have you look at the situation prior to my purchase. The knob/lock mechanism is only about 4.5 by 3.5 tall. The screws you see are from a failed attempt to use a children’s sand bucket as our enclosure. They can be removed and used as possible placement of the GRD-KNOB screws. If this looks as if it will work I will be happy to place an order. We have two gates and would purchase two of these guards. The pole in the photos is corroded and coming apart at the base and will be replaced and the lock mechanism re-welded to the new pole. Thank you for your advice. Feel free to email or call if you need any additional information. Does the company allow for return if the part somehow does not match up? Also, I saw something about a drill bit for mounting these, is that something you carry or could be sent if needed? Images here:

The screw holes are 3-1/2" and 2-1/2" CTC

I believe you can make this work.

Our return policy page is posted on our website but in short it says there would be a 35% restock fee on this and the hardware must be in brand new mint unused uninstalled condition.

Regarding a drill bit, yes it is indeed something that we can supply so your installer would likely have an abundance of drill bits, plus you mentioned when we spoke that you were going to weld this to the gate.
