Q: Can I order cylinder 035001-17 keyed to a stock Kawneer key code?

A: Kawneer does not have a keying platform I am aware of. Whose system do they use? Is it Schalge? IF yes, or any other common key system, yes we can key a cylinder to the bitting you provide.

Q: In regarding to keying a cylinder, what information would you need to key to match an existing? It is a new Kawneer cylinder for 1786 Rim Panic. Installed two, then the custmer requested matching keys. Please advise

A: The surest way to make sure that we ship you a cylinder that works the key properly is for you to mail us the key - this will allow us to guarantee that it works.

Alternatively you can give us the bitting or “code” of the cuts on the key. We will cut the key to this code, and combinate the cylinder to that code but unfortunately we would have no way to guarantee that it would match your existing keys. It only takes about .03” error in a pin or a cut or a code for a key to not work the cylinder that it was intended to.

Q: On the Kawneer 035001 is the cam a typical MS cam?

A: I’m told it’s a straight cam which maybe be the Kaba Ilco 863G as seen here:

as it more accurately represents the dimensional requirements listed in the installation instructions which call for a .800” cam length.
