Q: Can this be used on two bifold doors that meet together? How is the installation different when there is no door jam to afix to?
A: The Hager 9264 US3 A Door Lock for Bi-Fold Applications Keyed Alike - Polished Brass can be used to secure two panels to a jamb or four panels to each other in the center - a door jamb is not required to use this lock. It will work in the application that youve described.
Q: Thank you for the information, one additional question, your description and the description of the website says the finish is polished brass, yet the picture shows more of a nickel finish. Do you have an accurate picture of the polished brass finish?
A: I do not have an image of the hager unit I can tell you that what you will be shipped will look identical to the Knape & Vogt PB1064-US3 Bi-Fold Door Lock, Brass, Keyed Different as seen here:

Q: Hi, if I would like to install two lock on center pivot of a two panel bifold door (there is no door jam, just sheet rock) will this lock work for my needs and can both locks be keyed the same? If so, does the “A” in a Keyed Alike application mean that the keys are the same as every other lock ever sold? Or just the same as the two I purchase? (And different from every other lock you have ever sold? Lastly, can I get the lock in either white or silver?
A: I would say that yes it will work mounting it at the center of a two-panel bifold do your ultimate degree of opening may be hampered by the projecting hardware hanging off of the back of the panels.
Yes ‘A’ does indicate keyed-alike and can be ordered to the silver finish which would be the part number

Q: Would this lock work on a simple wooden door on a utility closet. Just a small door on hinges, not bifold
A: I believe it could be forced to work but youd have to mount the mortise strike to the stop (what is properly termed the soffit) and its possible the width of your soffit is too narrow to accommodate the width of the surface strike also. In terms of door thickness it would certainly work assuming that your door is 1-3/8”
Q: I believe I have seen elsewhere that this works for a 1-3/8" deep door. Can you please confirm that is the case?
A: The Hager 9264 US3 A Door Lock for Bi-Fold Applications Keyed Alike - Polished Brass
does work for 1-3/8" thick doors though not specifically stated in the installation instructions as seen here:
