Q: Hi Richard, We are looking for face mounted overlay hinges for some pantry doors. The specs:

  • doors are 1 1/4" thick at the perimeter and spaced 1/8" apart - so the hinge needs to be able to work without hitting the door next to it.
  • doors are 7ft tall and ~28" wide at max - lets call them 100lbs

  • Can these handle the weight?
  • Will they avoid adjacent doors when opening?

    The short answer is no, these hinges will not work - not only because of the potential weight but because of the geometry of the vertical axis of pivoting and how the door will need to cycle open.
