Q: how to I grip it and turn into the body? on the other side with the key its easy as you use a different key to turn it in?
A: I find it easy to install mortise cylinder thumbturns using the tips of my fingers but you might want to use a tool such as the A1-16 Mortise Cylinder Removal Tool as seen here:
