Q: Will a 25R-L cover the door prep from a 18-R-L?

A: Yes, the holes on the door would be covered up by the 25-R-L device. The (4) center case mounting holes are in the same location but there are some small modifications that will be needed like the 3/4" dia. hole at device CL for the main cam clearance shown on the 25-R Template as seen here:

and the now (2) mounting holes at the end cap end of the device shown on step 14 of the 25-R Instructions.

Q: Why would the 25-R latch release the door by applying repetitive force to the 510L lever handle?

A: Installation is not correct. If the straight cam on the mortise cylinder is not inverted, the latch may be forced out of the strike and cause the door to unlatch. Please reference the lever trim installation instructions for proper inversion of the cylinder cam.
