Q: Hello, I’m hoping to order a dust box or “boxed strike plate” to strengthen the deadbolt on our apartment door, but I could use some guidance on how to install it. I found this video of yours from a few years ago, and the Schlage unit would fit the openings for our deadbolt and the handle latch on the current steel frame: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_sDWUriy8c&t=6s Our door is a steel fire-rated door in a steel door frame, which opens to a common building hallway which appears to be framed only with metal studs and 5/8’ drywall. Can you advise on how best to mount one of your dust boxes, or another type of strike reinforcement if there aren’t wood studs and wood door-framing into which I could drive long wood-screws?
