Q: Hello, I am looking for zinc weather stripping for an outswing casement window. From what I have seen on other similar windows the weather stripping appears to be similar to the meeting rail and head or sill casing pieces but rearranged for a casement application. am I correct or are there products made specifically for casement windows?
A: The simple answer is this: The Dorbin 16Z 1/2 x M4Z & 32Z 3/0 x 6/8 SD Zinc Interlocking Weatherstrip will work splendidly for a casement window.
A Casement Window is a window that is attached to its frame by one or more hinges. Casement windows are hinged at the side.* And using this definition is wholly the same as a traditional door for which the Dorbin 16Z 1/2 x M4Z & 32Z is intended for.
This set from Dorbin is comprised of 4 base items:
First, the 16Z 1/2 is the Flange Zinc Interlocking Weatherstrip that is attached to the hinge jamb of the window and engages the window via a slot cut into the stile of the window and can be reviewed here: Click Here
Second, the M4Z (double hemmed piece) and the 32Z (hook strip) are installed on the sill, head and locking stile of the window and can be reviewed here: Click Here
