Questions and Answers
Q: hi, I am restoring apiar of french doors that have the original zinc interlocking weather-strip. On the meeting styles at lock set, a section of the 16AZ type strip has a section cut out for the latch. How would you recommend bridging that gap so that there is continuous seal?

A: That is a tricky situation you have there and rather than custom fabricate a hook strip just for the lock case, I would considering installing this auxiliary equipment to solve the issue as seen here:

This surface mounted interlocking set of "split" astragals, while is not as elegant as as the century old installtion you are working on, I ought to do at lease as good of a job, though again less elegant.
