Q: Can you tell me how much it normally costs to return my 1300 to "like new" condition? I see that if I buy a rebuilt one first, and then return mine for the core charge it will cost about $350 in the end. Is it less expensive to just remove mine and send it to you to be repaired?

Q: Is there a way to adjust the swing point centerline of the model 1300 door. It has begun to lean away from the top axleand drag on the bottom.
A: There is no way to bring the door back plumb inherently on the door closer body and would suggest the cause to be a worn top arm on the door or possibly the door closer spindle. Please inspect both items and advise however also inspect the closer arm - perhaps it is simply loose.
Q: Hello! I installed the Dor-O-Matic and the door was extremely hard to open. I had forgotten about the nut on the end for adjustment. I've turned it many revolutions and the door is still a bit stiff. Is there a limit to how many turns I can give that adjustment nut? It looked liked the last few turns didn't do anything. Thanks for your help, -Steven
A: Steven - The nut on the end is the head of a bolt that adjust the spring tension. When you screw it in, it puts more tension on the spring and if you unscrew it puts less tension on the spring. The 1300 is a medium action Door Closer. It is used mostly on exterior doors and high traffic doors. The 1200 is a light duty closer for interior doors. It would help if I knew exactly what the problem your customer is having. It might not be spring tension but it could be latching or closing speed that’s the problem.
