Questions and Answers
Q: What is the lead time?
A: Please contact our sales department for current lead-time here Click Here
Q: do these have to be recessed into the door so they dont scrape against the door frame? meaning do you have to cut a notch into the side of the door??
A: Yes - occasionally it is necessary to chisel it back to the face of the door but generally what you will find in residential construction is that there is a large gap anyway between the door and frame allowing you to get around the requirement of having to fit the Don-Jo 504-CW S Satin Stainless Steel Door Reinforcer a little better. If your margin is already very tight and it's a door that can't be chiseled like a steel door or a metal clad door this may not be an option for you.
Q: I have an old motel with two cylindrical locks (dead bolt and turn knob) that still use regular keys. I want to install a modern key card system without replacing doors. Will this allow me to avoid replacing doors? Obviously, the doors would have to be cut for the mortise lock to slide in. Any help would be appreciated.
A: The short answer is, absolutely yes. The Don-Jo 504-CW S Satin Stainless Steel Door Reinforcer will permit you to both cover up the existing holes and allow the instillation of your mortise lock. Having said that potential pitfalls would be if your door is fire rated, this device cannot be used as it is not permissible on fire rated doors (as the steel adds to the potential fuel load to the door in a fire), drilling both the door and this stainless steel door reinforcer may prove a challenge for some (but not all) people who consider this rework.

My personal opinion is, if the doors are not fire rated, I would proceed and further more we can prep the function holes in the stainless plates for you as well.
