Q: I could use your expert eyes on this material. Upon submitting the order, DCI came back and asked us for the door widths and gave us some options as seen below:
#654 is a 52" is a coordinator mechanism - only. Normally used as a replacement coordinator on openings from 56" thru 96"
#N-654 is a 32" coordinator mechanism with filler for a 54"opening, and will accommodate active door widths up to "28"
#NX-654 is a 42" coordinator mechanism with filler for a 54" opening, and will accommodate active door widths up to 38"
Please verify that you want a 52" coordinator mechanism only, or other.
A: What this boils down to is whether or not the client requires a complete coordinator.
Read review the top of of page two, and in particular the three bullet points, of the link as seen here:
Download File
Study specifically the bullet points of which there are three at the near top of the page:
36+36=72
6+72=672
What I'm saying is if we ship the client the 654 part number that they used and he would get the coordinator portion only and not the filler bar as well (see the top of page one of the link above for a definition of both of these new terms).
You might ask the client if they want the mechanism only or if they need the filter bar as well and if they need the filler bar as well then go with the 672. If they need the mechanism only, go with the 654.
Q: how long is the fire rating ?
A: The DCI 654 PC 600 Series Soffit Mounted Door Coordinator is UL listed for use on fire rated openings. The maximum permissible rating, like a door viewer or door closer, will be not less than the rating required for the wall, frame and doors.
