The DCI 4040 Roller Latch with Stop and the error on the template

Questions and Answers
Q: Would you know if the machining for these 2 roller latches is the same? I told my son one is different than the other , I had my reasons …it’s almost like the DCI instructions are misleading???? The math doesn’t add up on the DCI template with ½” and 5/8” dimensioning as seen here:

Download File

I am in the process of machining the heads and the doors per the template and I feel they are different. We have a 1152 by the CNC but the DCI 440 is something we’ve never done. I thought maybe you’ve come across this question before? I’m confused by one thing, and watching the video explaining this hardware confirmed it. The edge of strike and latch are aligned in the template but not when you hold the strike to body in video.

Studying this further, So it seems that what is driving me nuts is exactly what I thought …the strike and latch are not flush the strike sits in 1/8 and goes beyond the face of the glynn Johnson stops on latch by a 1/8”. The 5/8” dimension on the DCI template from face of door to centerline of strike is suppose to be 1/2”, making my world perfect again.

A: My further review completely confirms your conclusion and ve detailed my answer in the video as seen here:
