Q: How do you adjust the hold open feature?
A: Please reply to this email with photographs of your existing door closer and we will review.
Q: My question was how to adjust as it either doesn't fully latch or takes minutes to do so.
A: The two valves have seen in the very left hand side of the image as seen here:

are the valves by which you govern the sweep and latch speed.
If you find that you no longer have control over the door closed or I would have to suggest and recommend that you send it to us for a full rebuild to bring it back to original operating specifications.
Q: Can this door closer's tension be adjusted so the door is easier to open? How is the tension adjusted?
A: The opening force on the Corbin Russwin Rebuilt 2800 Rebuilt Surface Door Closer for Corbin Russwin Model 2800 Series cannot be decreased nor increased as the 2800 series was a fixed spring closer (they were ordered sized 2, 3, 4, 5).
A modern Corbin Russwin adjustable tension surface closer would be the DC3000 and can be reviewed in the manufacturers product catalog here:

Q: How much do these weigh?
A: Roughly 12 lbs
Q: I have a 2800 closer that has a friction hold open arm that has quit working. Are parts avalible to repair this friction device?
A: It is unlikely that we would have any parts alone for this discontinued door closer. Please reply to this email with photographs of your arm and door closer and I will determine if we have the parts necessary or possibly an entire arm.
